Words (and the World) are Beautiful Today
Ever had an absolutely horrible day and an amazing day juxtaposed one after the other? I’m not sure I’ve ever had such drastically different moments so close together. I won’t get into the details of the bad (who wants to hear that), but today, I got a job. A paying job. Thank god. It’s at the alumni society on campus. I’ll be doing tedious things such as data entry...

I love my job. I hate my job. I love my job. So it...
Longest day ever. Maybe not ever, but it’s definitely up there. Went to work at 9 as usual but then Metro-ed off to Adams Morgan to tour one of the schools where the summer school program I’m doing a story about is located. Absolutely amazing. It was stunningly beautiful, with every resource the kids could possibly want, and firm but fun teachers. I took a bunch of pics and video...

Sunshine-Bringers Spread Their Light
Ah, Fridays. I’ve always liked them. Most people do. All the promise of the weekend with so many possibilities and so much unused time. It helps when the actual day turns out to be awesome, too.
Went all the way to the Grosvenor metro stop, encountering delays along the way, but I had blocked out a lot of time so I wasn’t too upset. Met the woman whose kids I’d be babysitting...

Life is the final exam.
School is nothing. Real life is so much harder.
Today, I was supposed to get up at 7:45 a.m. and go to The Bagel Place with my friend, Austin, because they sell their extra bagels from the day before at a really cheap price.
However, I am not a morning person. Therefore, that didn’t happen. It was my only day this week to sleep in so I went back to bed until 9:30 a.m.
Couldn’t sleep...

Live the life you've imagined
Wow. I can’t believe it’s been more than a week since I’ve posted. So much has happened. That sounds so profound and meaningful. I don’t know that it is, just that I’ve been crazy, crazy busy. I’ll try and keep it relatively short and succinct since I have so much to share.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
And it was. On our afternoon off from intense intellectual stimulation, we at the Journalism and a Free Society conference took a train into downtown Philadelphia to see the sights under a blue sky and beating sun.
First up was the famous Liberty Bell. In all honesty, we were all a little disappointed. Photographs and historical accounts seem to depict it as this massive symbol of liberty when,...

The world and its enthusiasm
It’s simple, straightforward, easy to comprehend. Enthusiasm moves the world. Yet there are few times where one can see that happen suddenly or vividly. Here at Bryn Mawr, however, the potential for this to occur flows from the mouths of the 70 other seminar participants almost constantly. These, right here, these are incredibly intelligent people.
Yet somehow I’m not intimidated. I...

Life in a Free Society
The past 48 hours have been so full I haven’t had time to post. One of my best friends came in for lunch Friday, and my boyfriend came down from Baltimore. First time I’d seen him in a month, and it was utter bliss. No sappy details though; I try to keep the PDA to a minimum.
Yesterday, I took the Metro across town to Clarendon, which was ridiculously packed due to the Susan G. Komen Race for the...

Today is Thursday. It's not a rare day. It's just...
You know those days where everything goes wrong? ‘Nuff said.
But I like to find silver linings. So here’s the details:
After two interviews, I still don’t have a paying job. One needs me to have work study (tell me how you get work study when you’re not enrolled in classes), and the other needs a five-day commitment when I can only work three. Sucks.
All of this had...

A rare day in June...and airports
I love airports. Not always but sometimes. When they’re transitions, not mainstays. When it’s a clear day with blue sky, and light streams through the walls of plated glass windows, illuminating the rafters with a heavenly glow. When they take me from the city that holds countless memories to that where I hope to make even better ones.
Today started my summer in Washington. And what a...
